While the FDA hasn’t yet set regulations for the CBD industry, most companies know that in order to succeed it’s vital to build transparency and trust with their customers.
Getting products tested at an independent third party lab is one of the best ways to do so.
At the most basic level, third party labs test for two things: purity and potency.
Testing for purity ensures that products are free from any pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, mold, and other contaminants.
Testing for potency offers information about cannabinoid levels in their product. This gives customers peace of mind that their product not only contains as much CBD as it claims, but also that it contains less than 0.03% THC.
Brands that are making it in the extremely competitive CBD industry are the ones that are adamant about offering third party lab test results on their websites.
This is something Allevi8te understands.
All Allevi8te products are tested both in house and by third party labs for quality and potency. Third party lab results are easily located on their website under Allevi8te’s “Lab Reports” page.
Clicking on your specific product’s lab report will give you options for a “certificate of quality assurance” and “certificate of analysis.”
We checked both for the product we tried (Allevi8te CBD Oil Tincture/1000mg) and found the following:
- Certificate of Quality Assurance: This contained information the attributes and accepted criteria of the product, including appearance (thin oil), odor (characteristic), color (clear), and cannabinoid content (95-110% of target concentration/THC report results). Results all conformed to the acceptance criteria for each attribute. The product showed to have 1000mg “total phytocannabinoids” and zero THC.
- Certificate of Analysis (COA): Allevi8te’s COA offered the cannabinoid profile of the tincture, as well as a footnote that let us know our product was “free from visual mold, mildew, and foreign matter.” We’d love to have seen a page that offered a microbial analysis and pesticide test results, which lets us know that the product is pesticide free and verifies that the hemp used to source the product is free of pesticides and grown organically.
